The People of the Crossbones Graveyard

The People of the Crossbones Graveyard from Michael Travis on Vimeo.

The Cross Bones is a disused, medieval burial ground in the heart of London's South Bank, originally established as an unconsecrated graveyard for "single women" - a euphemism for prostitutes known locally as Winchester Geese. This documentary focuses on the eclectic individuals (historians, spiritualists, sex workers, writers, musicians and more) who work ceaselessly to keep the memory of the site alive - even as it is encroached by modern urban development.
